Second Chance High School Home (SCHSH)
Formerly known as ‘Rehabilitation of High School Dropouts, SCHSH, a wing of the ASHA Home for older boys has been helping many students to get through High School who had otherwise dropped out of their studies and felt they could never make it due to lack of interest or problems at home. It has completed nearly 10 years of its existence since its inception in the year 2001 with only 2 students. The students take their examinations through the ‘National Institute Of Schooling (NIOS) Board’, of the Government of India.

Second Chance High School Home (SCHSH) not only takes account into their academics but also helps to inculcate and nurture the feelings of brotherhood by sharing and caring for each other.During their stay here on the campus for one whole year they are also taught how to handle their own finances so that they may be able to manage their own expenses and expenditure. They are taught to follow the strict routine and code of conduct for behavior set by the organization during their stay. Many batches of students from diverse backgrounds have successfully passed out from here and have brought laurels by scoring very high marks among other students of the same Board. Most of them have gone for higher studies.Around 10 students have come from different backgrounds have gained admission into the current batch and live in the campus hostel as a family and thus they learn to develop their personalities and to become able citizens of the country. This batch is currently giving their Board Examinations which are held every year in the month of April. After their examinations in April the students are allowed to go home and a fresh batch comes in. Their results are declared and sent by the Board directly to their homes. Fresh students are admitted into a new batch only after an admission test followed by an interview. “For me coming here was a remarkable experience as apart from studies whatever I learnt here will never be forgotten.” – Prem Tirkey
