Rev. Eliezer John Memorial ASHA Home :
Rev. Eliezer John Memorial ASHA Home, a home for the homeless, was started off back in August 2004 with just 1 kid. Orphaned and semi- orphaned children find a home and a shelter in ‘ASHA Home’ and are looked after and well cared for by experienced and dedicated staff. The staff take good care of all the children’s varied needs from morning till evening. All the children attend different schools and are given home tuitions and follow strict routines. Most are encouraged to enroll in English medium schools as it is well known that English is the stepping stone for success. Their school teachers stand testimony to the fact that our children are exceptional, out standing and out shining others in their classes.

“I was very weak in English and Mathematics at school but due to the excellent guidance from our teachers here I have made up on these subjects and now I no longer feel scared in these subjects”. – Priya, age 10 yrs SDI is paving the way for these children to come up in life who come from abused backgrounds, discarded and disgraced by their parents or society. The following children stay in ASHA Home: Ajay 3 yrs, Rajeev 5 yrs, Sonia, Philip & Caleb 7 yrs, Akshay, Gabriel, Vijay & Priya 8 yrs, Garcia, Aneema & Poonam 9 yrs, and Vinita 12 yrs of age Here the children learn discipline by adhering to a strict routine. Along with their studies the children are given home tuitions. They have ample opportunities to develop their personalities in addition to their academics like learning music & musical instruments, computers, gardening etc. and play games like basketball, lawn tennis, carom, chess, painting, art & craft etc. All these facilities are provided in order to bring out the child's hidden talent for the holistic development of their personalities and to make them responsible citizens. Some of the children are exceptionally good artists like Vijay who at the age of 8 yrs is far ahead of children his age and always gets the highest marks in class for his drawings and paintings. Some children who have a talent for singing are taught songs by their school teachers. Later the children give special numbers at various places.
